Gymboree Sale!!!

I finally got out and went shopping yesterday and I was amazed to find that just about the whole Gymboree store was on sale! I actually went in to look for the strawberry gymmies I liked and was dissappointed that they were gone. I was able to find some really great bargains on other things though. Like tank tops for next year and other jammies for this winter. I always love their leggings but SO many other people do to that when there's a sale they are the first thing to go. Good luck finding any of those. LOL

I really hope they do some other really cute collecctions soon. So far I've only really liked the cupcake theme the best. No-No wore her jeans just aobut everyday! Oh, that reminds me to go onto ebay and look for a new pair. LOL!

Allure Giveaway

My mind has been complete mush lately and I totally forgot about this giveaway that Allure magazine is having. Damn. It started on August 1st and for each weekday of the month, they are giving away a ton of products, clothing, or shoes. I'm so bummed I forgot all about this. Who doesn't love free stuff?! There's still a few days left to win!

CB2 Too!

I'm so excited! We finally have gotten a Cb2 store in San Francisco. I love that store. I don't usually spend a ton of money on decorating or home stuff but probably will now. LOL!

If you're like me, you hate spending money on shipping. Then, if you don't like it, you've gotta send the damn thing back. Sooo not for me. Now that we have a store, I can go there and see the thing in person. *sigh* And possibly not afford everything I want to buy. The chances of bigger markdowns is always better at the store too.
If you're not familiar with CB2, it's a subsidiary of the Crate & Barrel stores. Geared towards 'younger people', they carry a higher end line of things that would remind you of IKEA. It is quite a bit more expensive but how low can designers go? I think that if you can find something on sale there, you'd be doing pretty darn good. Can't wait to go shopping!

Olympic Fashions for 2008

So, I was going to talk about the different things the athletes were wearing at the opening ceremonies at the Olympics, but due to unfortunate events, I missed some of it and couldn't find the picture that I wanted. After a moment, I remembered the one above...What is that and who in Hungary thought it would be okay?! They looked like a bunch of red and white cows from far away. Oh, that was just sad.

As long as it is, I do like watching the parade of nations. It is pretty fun to see what all the different countries put together for their teams since the sports wear is going out of style and sport coats are now the thing to wear. I can't remember exactly which team it was (very small country) did have the sport coats but they were a nasty moss/olive green color. Hey, at least they tried. LOL! The knee-highs on the Bermuda team were pretty interesting too.

I was just talking about how the uniforms have changed to someone the other day. It came up at how much skin everyone shows now. Which is pretty interesting since it's a flashback to when...the 1930s or so? I guess I see the point though. I still wait for malfunctions during beach volleyball, wearing those skimpy bikinis, and wonder how the men's swim bottoms stay up, without the tops and straps, all that time.

The "Baby Doll" Trend

In case you haven't really noticed, fashion has been moving closer and closer to making us all look like dolls. I don't actually mind this because of it's cute and whimsical fancy but I don't personally have the body type for it. I'm very short and still have a ton of baby weight to lose. It may not to everyone's liking but I think it's rather sweet. Anyway, it has become nicer to look at than the nautical styles that were pushed recently or the hood-rat type of clothing that so many younger girls are wearing.

There are many places to find these looks at a smaller price. My favorite right now is at Anthropologie. They have everything from the 3/4 swing cardigans to the large brightly colored handbag, bringing back the now retro pocketbook.

Here are some of my picks:

"Let Your Kids Paint On The Walls"

("Peace" roses)

"I just heard the news...Randy Pausch has passed away after a long battle with cancer. Right away I started tearing up, got a lump in my throat, and my heart sank through the floor. I'm completely devastated. Because of his generosity, letting us all into his life, he became like family to so many even if we've never met him. I feel like we have all lost such a model mentor for us all. We all have something to learn from Randy. He truly had a unique way of looking at life. He didn't get lost in some rut like most of us do everyday. He took life head on and followed his dreams by upholding a great optimism. His life did come full circle as few do. I can honestly say that as I look at the achievements he has made. Although I am so sad about this loss, I am blessed to have had the opportunity to have learned from him some of the greatest lessons in my life.

If you haven't thought you have had the time to watch Randy Pausch's lecture, PLEASE do! Not only is his story a fascinating inspiration, he has a terrific humor too. Please watch his lecture, read his book, and visit his website! http://download.srv.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/

New Favorite?

I've always stuck with a more classic look...I'm getting older, so I need to start looking a bit more mature. :o) I have to say, it does make it harder to find just the right something. Now every time I find something I like, I have to buy it in a few colors. Sometimes thing have way too much "stuff" and it either looks messy or just ugly. I do still love my "tattoo" looking things. My favorite is the cashmere sweaters by RAW 7. The sweaters or clothes themselves are quite basic and with the designs it's just more interesting. My fave right now:
I'm always looking through mags, trying to find things to add to my closet. As of late, I keep finding myself drawn to Derek Lam. He has a sense of classic style with a modern twist...but not too much. His designs are clean, refined, but up-to-date. Here are a few of my favorites:

There's a cashmere sweater that I like too...couldn't find a pic.

Fashionable 'Bag Lady'?

Is it just me, or are the trends focusing on styles that should have been left alone the first time. Isn't once (or even twice) enough? Where's the creativity?

I went to Nordstrom today for their Anniversary Sale. Boy, Can we say chunky knit? There was hardly a single thing that was in between 1 ply sheer and thick chunky knit sweaters, without ruffles, cinching, shirring, or wrinkles. So, I can look like a sausage or a stuffed sausage. Hmmm...which one should I choose?

I did come home and look online but no success there either. I did happen to find a chunky sweater that I liked but they were out of my size. Looking at just the girl's clothes was sad. Does she really need a Juicy Couture outfit at 18m/o? It's cute but probably not right now, huh?

I did manage to pick up a couple of decent cardigans and a cute top but was highly disappointed that I only found 1 thing for No-No (our daughter). Normally, I can spend a couple hundred, on her alone, easily. Not even the shoes were something I'd put on her. I've always bought a wool coat, some basic shirts, shoes, make-up, plus everything I can find for the kids, totaling well over $500. So, I didn't even bother looking for the dh this time.

I ask you to look at the above picture. Would you buy this and use it? It's like tie-dye gone awry! I really would like to know what happened...or am I just getting too old?

Save Your $$$!

I have spent some time in the past researching fake designer goods and along the way have found some helpful ebook guides on where to buy authentic bags at a lower price. Usually titled as "wholesale handbooks" these can be a total waste of money. I have purchased tons of these and have found only two to be worth buying. With both of these you can ask for a refund if you're not happy with them, which most don't actually do even though they say you can.

This one is $20.00 Buy Now
And this one is $39.95 Buy Now
I liked both of these because they aren't those giant lists of dead links that lead you no where. You're not getting a bunch of fluff. Don't forget, honest people will give you your money back and I think buying one of these will help you save your money if you can't afford to buy directly from the designer. The worst is buying a bag, finding out it's a fake, and not being able to get your money back!

I Love My LV

Here it is...the bag I've wanted forever...the "Batignolles". Hopefully, I'll have one one day...soon. I still can't believe how much things cost now. LV wants $795 for this one. There are a couple of others that I would take before this one though, including Gucci. Oh, but if I had this one... right now I can only dream.

This blog will probably end up more of a wish list of mine. ha, ha, ha I of course will always have my comments about the current trends. Like, what's up with these designers? Why does it seem like the same styles are revolving so quickly? Nothing seems fresh and new. But handbags...that's another story. No matter what you're wearing, a handbag will always bring it together. Okay, maybe not if you're wearing some moo-moo jammies. I actually saw that once. Anyway, just wait till I get everything up here!
